60 bed Care Home, Barrowcliff Road, Scarborough

The proposed building is a two storey facing brickwork and render structure under a slate roof. The care home will provide sixty en-suite bedrooms over the two floors and allows 11 car park spaces together with drop off points near to the main entrance. Ancillary accommodation will be provided within a lower ground floor.

The scale and massing of the proposed building are not too dissimilar to the existing building. The south west & north west elevations face Briercliff and Barrowcliff Road respectfully turning the corner and creating a landmark building. The building sits back on the site from these roads allowing for landscaped areas in front of the building. Only one vehicular access remains open situated from Barrowcliff Road. A drive is brought in at this position which will serve the building for services, parking, deliveries etc.

Some of the ground floor bedrooms on the internal elevations (south east & north east elevations) have doors opening out onto private areas which merge with communal areas giving a sense of small domestic garden areas. These would be large enough to sit out at a table with staff members during the warmer months. Materials are predominantly facing brickwork, stone, render and slate.
